PAKHRU
Marathi Art Feature Film- Casting Call
PAKHRU
Pakhru (Marathi for “a little bird”) is a deeply emotional and symbolic narrative that follows the story of a young couplewho longs to break free from the invisible cages of tradition, gender roles, and poverty. Set in the serene yet socially rigid landscapes of rural Maharashtra, the film uses the metaphor of a bird — a pakhru — to tell a universal story of self-discovery and resilience.
As the protagonist grapples with personal loss, family expectations, and a yearning for something more, Pakhru reflects the struggles of countless couple caught between dreams and duty. The film draws visual inspiration from nature, minimalism, and Indian folklore, blending realism with lyrical storytelling.
At its heart, Pakhru is not just a story about escape, but about finding flight within — even when the world offers none.
